Our Commitment to Accessibility
Angelman Advocates exists to serve people living with Angelman syndrome and the families who love them. A website that some of our community cannot use would contradict the work itself. We are committed to making angelmanadvocates.org usable by as many people as possible, regardless of how they browse.
What We Aim For
We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. In practice, that means we try to ensure that:
- Every page can be navigated by keyboard alone, without a mouse.
- Text and background colors meet contrast minimums for readability.
- Images that carry meaning have descriptive alternative text.
- Headings follow a logical order so screen readers can move through a page.
- Forms have clearly associated labels and understandable error messages.
- Pages remain usable when text is enlarged or the layout is zoomed.
- Documents we publish, including PDFs, are readable by assistive technology.
Where We Fall Short
We would rather tell you than let you find out. Accessibility is ongoing work, not a box we have checked, and some parts of this site are further along than others. Older documents in our resource library may not be fully tagged for screen readers, and embedded content from third parties, such as video players and petition tools, is not always under our control.
If you run into a barrier anywhere on this site, we want to hear about it. That feedback is the most reliable way we find problems.

Email info@cureangelman.org and tell us what happened. It helps if you can include the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using, but please write to us either way rather than not at all.
We aim to respond within five business days. If something is blocking you from taking an action alert or reaching advocacy materials, say so and we will find another way to get it to you while we fix the page.
